Imagine it’s 1943 in the English countryside and a lone USAAF B17 is seen flying above the tall trees and church steeples on it’s return voyage after delivering death and destruction to the German landscape. It’s counterparts and brothers in arms either shot down or limping back to base miles behind.
In reality, this is B17G “Sentimental Journey” on it’s final approach to the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport – KHWY in Midland, VA on June 23, 2024.
