RADIAL

One of two Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp K radial engines on the Douglas Aircraft built C47 Skytrain “Luck of the Irish.” These are 14-cylinder air-cooled radial engines that produce 1,200 horsepower each. The C-47 is the military version of the widely known civilian DC-3 aircraft.
Lined up behind is C47 and D-Day veteran “Placid Lassie.”
